![]() John Burton Thompson John Burton Thompson was one of a handful of writers "trained" by Jack Woodford to write in the "Woodford Style" for The Woodford Press. Together, Woodford, "scandalous" writer of "spicy" melodramatic potboilers from the 1930s on, and J.B. Thompson wrote a batch of sleaze books in the 1950s. Soon, Thompson began publishing on his own, mostly for the sleaze digests many of which were subsequently issued from Beacon Press (and its successors Beacon-Signal and Softcover Library). His work is flavoured by tastes of backwoods, country atmosphere, characters and attitudes. New titles will be added as they become available. |
